Spot Runner and Microsoft Alumnus to Head Up Sales Team

SAN FRANCISCO – November 18, 2008Sugar Inc., the leading online publisher dedicated to lifestyle and entertainment for trendsetting women, today announced that Kristine Shine, a fourteen-year sales veteran, has been named vice president of ad sales.

“I am thrilled to bring my years of experience to a ground-breaking publisher like Sugar,” said Kristine Shine. “With the company’s phenomenal growth in such a short period of time, coupled with our editor’s inimitable approach to content delivery, there is an enormous opportunity for advertisers to get creative and connect with this critical audience of highly influential, savvy women.”

In her role, Shine is charged with building Sugar’s newly formed sales team, following the company’s decision to bring ad sales back in house from NBC Universal this Summer.  Sugar’s audience has grown to over 11 million unique visitors over the past two and a half years and is a top destination for 18-44 year old U.S. women. Shine is focused on enabling brands to more easily connect with this coveted demographic, including hiring additional sales team members and working to develop new product offerings and more compelling integrations on Sugar’s popular websites.

“Kristine brings exceptional experience in online display advertising and search marketing to the table,” said Brian Sugar, Founder and CEO of Sugar Inc.  “We are excited to welcome Kristine to our executive team.  Her leadership is vital to Sugar’s success as we continue to build a superlative sales team with the same passion, focus, commitment and tenacity as our world-class editorial, engineering, product and marketing teams.”

Shine joins Sugar from Spot Runner, the online advertising company, where she served as vice president of regional sales.  Prior to her role at Spot Runner, Shine spent four years as Director of Sales at Microsoft, overseeing the West region sales team with a focus on search and display advertising.  She has also held key sales roles at BusinessWeek and Icon International.
